THIS 2004 ROBINSON R-22 BETA II HELICOPTER WAS INDEED DAMAGED BY CATTLE !!
THIS HELICOPTER WAS USED TO HERD CATTLE, SO THE COWS DIDNT LIKE IT MUCH.
WHILE ON THE GROUND, RUNNING, NEAR A CATTLE PEN, THE COWS BECAME SPOOKED, AND SEVERAL PUSHED THE FENCE OVER, RAN INTO THE HELICOPTER, AND PUSHED IT OVER !!
IN OVER 27 YEARS OF BUYING AND SELLING AIRPLANES, INCLUDING 75 R-22′S, I HAVE NEVER BEFORE SOLD A CATTLE DAMAGED HELICOPTER !!
THE DAMAGE TO THIS R-22 IS EXTENSIVE, THE SAME AS IT MIGHT BE FOR ANY DYNAMIC ROLL-OVER,
THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES, MAST, FUSELAGE NEAR MAST, AND FIREWALL ARE ALL DAMAGED
THE CABIN AREA HAS WRINKLES, AND BOTH BUBBLE GLASS IS BROKEN
THE TAIL BOOM IS DAMAGED AT THE ATTACH SKIN ONLY, THE REST LOOKS GOOD
THE TAIL ROTORS, THE TAIL ROTOR DRIVESHAFT, AND THE VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL STABILIZERS ARE UNDAMAGED. THE VENTRAL (BOTTOM) FIN IS WRINKLED.
ALL SKIDS LOOK OK, EXCEPT THE RIGHT ONE IS BROKEN OFF FORWARD OF THE SUPPORT LEG
THE INSTRUMENT POD HAS BEEN REMOVED, AND IS NOT INCLUDED. THE LOWER DASH , INCLUDING RADIO TRAYS AND THOSE INSTRUMENTS/SWITCHES SHOWN, IS INCLUDED
THE LYCOMING 0-360J2A 180 H.P. ENGINE IS INCLUDED, COMPLETE WITH ALL ACCESSORIES, AND DOES NOT SHOW ANY DAMAGE.
AS YOU MAY BE AWARE, THE R-22 DOES NOT HAVE A DIRECT CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CRANKSHAFT AND THE GEARBOX, INSTEAD, IT IS RUN OFF OF A PULLEY DRIVING SEVERAL RUBBER BELTS, LIKE FAN BELTS.
AS A RESULT, A ROTOR STRIKE ON AN R-22 DOES NOT EQUAL A PROP STRIKE ON AN AIRPLANE. NO BENDING MOTION IS EVER IMPARTED TO THE CRANKSHAFT, AND EVEN SUDDEN STOPPAGE IS NOT A FACTOR DUE TO THE BELT-ONLY DRIVE.
THE 0-360J2A IS A GREAT HOMEBUILT AIRCRAFT ENGINE, IN THAT IT IS A NEWER ENGINE, MANUFACTURED IN 2004, NOT AN OLD UNIT FROM THE 50′S OR 60′S.
ALL NEW DESIGNED PARTS, FROM THE CASE TO THE CYLINDERS (WIDE DECK, OF COURSE), AND ALL LATEST STYLE ACCESSORIES, SUCH AS THE LATEST SLICK MAGS, LATE STYLE CARB, LIGHTWEIGHT STARTER AND ALTERNATOR, ETC.
THIS ENGINE HAS 1980 HOURS SINCE NEW LIMITS MAJOR OVERHAUL IN 2006. IN THE R-22 APPLICATION, THE TBO IS 2200 HOURS, SINCE IT LIVES AT A CONSTANT RPM, AND HAS FULL TIME FORCED COOLING.
LAST ANNUAL INSPECTION 7/2010, SHOWED COMPRESSIONS AT 70,73,75,76 OVER 80.
THIS AIRCRAFT WILL BE A DIFFICULT, BUT CHEAP REBUILD PROJECT, A FANTASTIC PARTS DONOR FOR AN R-22 OWNER, OR A GREAT SOURCE FOR A CHEAP 0-360 FOR A HOMEBUILDER (THEN SELL THE R-22 PARTS TO REDUCE YOUR INVESTMENT)
WE HAVE AIRFRAME LOGS SINCE NEW, ENGINE LOGS SINCE MAJOR, AD COMPLIENCE SHEETS, AND AN FAA BILL OF SALE
LOCATED SOUTHEAST OF AUSTIN TEXAS NEAR THE TOWN OF GOLIAD, AT THE FORMER OWNERS RANCH.
WE HAVE NOT BEEN INFORMED OF ANY CHARGES TO STORE IT THERE (AS IT IS OUT OF HIS WAY ON A BIG SPREAD, I DON’T THINK IT IS BOTHERING HIM)
